South Africa Investment Conference, hosted by President Cyril Ramaphosa

Our CEO, Candice Roberts addressing thousands of investors from around the world as an entrepreneur and proud catalyst for job creation in South Africa …

“Last week I had the honour of speaking at the South Africa Investment Conference, hosted by President Cyril Ramaphosa at the University of Johannesburg. I must admit, as the day grew closer, my nerves seemed to get the better of me. It was such a surreal moment to know that I would be addressing thousands of investors from around the world as an entrepreneur and proud catalyst for job creation in South Africa.

Looking back, undoubtedly one of my highlights was to witness the great commitment from local businesses in support of sustainable economic growth. With over R360 billion secured in local and international investment pledges, more than half of this amount was pledged by South African corporates. This shows me that as local entrepreneurs we have a greater responsibility that reaches far beyond ourselves to bring about real change.

In his address, the President touched on the importance of job creation, the critical support and role of SME’s and of course our end goal – to attract R1.2 trillion in investments by 2022 (to which I believe we are well on our way).

Overall, the Conference was a huge success and I am so glad to have been a part of such an exciting event. A big thank you again to the President, organisers and delegates for choosing me as a panelist to represent entrepreneurs and narrate our original story. It is indeed an experience I will never forget!

I eagerly look forward to next years Conference.”
