In India, Infosys Foundation – the philanthropic arm of the digital services giant, Infosys Ltd. – and the non-profit organization, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, have partnered to skill over 48,000 students over a three-year period. Students will gain training in fields like IT, banking, knowledge process outsourcing, and e-commerce. With a grant of ₹33 crore the project aims to boost employability in rural India. The initiative will establish ‘Centers of Excellence’ in over 450 colleges, offering 100 hours of training and job placement support, leveraging Infosys’ digital learning platform, Infosys Springboard.

In Chiang Mia, Thailand, police from the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) have raided a Chinese-operated fake call center, arresting seven Chinese and six Myanmar nationals. They seized equipment including computers, mobile phones, and VoIP devices used in scams. The raid follows a previous operation in Phatthalung province. Suspects targeted victims in China by posing as insurance agents to steal personal information and drain bank accounts.

Cloud-computing services platform Amazon Web Services – headquartered in Seattle, Washington – has released an integration for its generative AI virtual agent, Amazon Q, with the Amazon Connect contact center platform. This integration aims to reduce app switching for agents, a significant issue in customer service, by automating tasks and providing real-time guidance during calls. It enables seamless workflows, such as form auto-population and script guidance, and is expected to enhance efficiency and reduce onboarding time for new agents in sectors like financial services and manufacturing.

In Egypt, ITIDA (Information Technology Industry Development Agency), Telecom Egypt, and Nokia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost innovation in network automation and expand Nokia’s operations in Egypt. The agreement, forged during the Egypt-EU Investment Conference, aims to establish an IP Excellence Center to export IT services to over 60 countries. This partnership will train Egyptian engineers, foster skills in advanced IP technology, and support Egypt’s burgeoning digital export sector.

Over in the Philippines, Teleperformance Philippines celebrated Pride Month by engaging over 2,000 employees in Pride events across Quezon City, Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao. The BPO giant, committed to LGBTQIA+ inclusion, was a Platinum Sponsor for the Visayas LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion Conference. CEO Rahul Jolly and other executives emphasized ongoing support for diverse workplaces, including initiatives like the TP Pride Town Hall and partnerships with educational institutions to foster inclusive environments.

In the U.S., HubSpot, a customer relationship management (CRM) giant, disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to customer accounts. Chief Information Security Officer Alyssa Robinson stated that HubSpot is actively addressing the issue, contacting affected customers, and securing their data. While the full extent of the breach remains unclear, this incident is part of a broader trend of increasing cyberattacks on major enterprise tech companies, raising concerns about data security.
